According to what Dylan Bate said "there are many worth and precious things that can be done" so if we don't state goals we can be easily distracted from what we need to assess.

Even thoug we state explicit goals if objectives are not appropriate the goals won't be achieved.

I had a goal for my English proficiency in speaking and I set up most time spent on reading grammar book.
Reading grammar book was helpful a certain point but it did not achive my goal which is to improve ability to speaking in English.
Because my my objective did not identify expected outcome.

The goal and the objectives are interrelated and setting them clearly for some clss is very important. For the successful and meaningful class, a lot of efforts would be put to making a lesson plan including a goal and objectives.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Not only having a goal, but also having appropriate objectives for goals are very important. And also, articulating them is one essential process for achieving it. I experienced some similar mistakes like you. What I wanted to was teaching students effectively, but I focused on my English proficiency. I had to communicate with students and to agonize about teaching methodologies, but I did not know that. However, I think that we can learn from our mistakes. Through those mistakes, I could realize the importance of communication with students and the fact that teaching English and Learning English have different approaches and aspects. Of course, the first one that we should do is making our goals and objectives clear.
